Hakka wine-brewing in Qingxi Township has been successfully listed in the city's intangible cultural relics list.
The traditional techniques for Qingxi Hakka wine-brewing has been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years. The process is said to have a history in excess of 5,000 years.
Hakka people are of Han Chinese decent and who speak the Hakka language. Their traditional home is centered on the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Fujian in China. Their ancestors were often said to have migrated from what is today's central China centuries ago. In areas inhabited by Hakka people, Hakka wine-brewing is usually given the name "Lao Jiu" (old wine), "Huang Jiu"(yellow wine) or "Mi Jiu"(rice wine). Drinking Hakka wine has been a typical custom of Hakka people. Especially during festivals, Hakka people will often take their home-made wine as a treat for their friends and guests.
Previously, Qingxi Township has atained many non-material cultural relics such as the Kylin-making techniques, Kylin dancing and Hakka songs.
