Dongguan's economy in 2009 is expected to grow by 5.3% compared with last year, according to a statistics released on December 28th at Dongguan Government's summarization convention of the whole year.

Dongguan's Gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to reach 376 billion yuan in 2009, representing an increase of 5.3% despite the global financial crisis hit hard Dongguan's export. Per capita GDP is expected to grow by 10% due to a moderate decrease of Dongguan's population.
